Melanoma Institute Australia (MIA) is at the forefront of global advances in melanoma research and treatment. They are a non-profit organisation dedicated to preventing and curing melanoma through innovative, world-class research, treatment and education programs. Their mission is zero deaths from melanoma this decade.

1 Australian is diagnosed with melanoma every 30mins and 1 Australian dies every 6 hours from melanoma. It is the most common cancer for Australians aged between 20 - 39 years of age, the 2nd most common cancer for Australian men and the 3rd most common for Australian women. 95% of melanomas are caused by over exposure to UV radiation from the sun and 90% of all melanomas can be cured through surgery.

In the last decade the 5 year overall survival rate has increased from <10% to >50% and melanoma has moved from being the 7th most deadly cancer in 2011 to the 11th most deadly in 2021.

Further research is vital to achieve zero deaths from melanoma, and every little donation helps fund this research.
